Week 7

This week we got our first tomatoes! They really took they're time getting here since we had such cool weather during much of July. But as always, they were definitely worth the wait!

This week's share:

tomatoes (red and orange)
cucumbers (both Asian and regular)
yellow squash
zucchini
romaine lettuce
beets
celery - new for this year, I've never had "fresh" celery, it is delicious but much crunchier and darker green than what we're familiar with from the store
green onion
bell peppers (purple and green)

U-pick:

more green beans, but they're delicious, so I don't mind at all!

Week 6

Well, summer must really be in full swing because I'm getting behind in the blog again. But I do have pictures from every week, so I will be able to catch up without missing any weeks.

This week's share:

yellow squash
zucchini
cucumber
green onions
white turnips
romaine lettuce
beets
rainbow chard

U-pick:

green beans
lots of basil to make pesto with (this was the first time I ever made pesto, and it really was easy - we ended up with a lot of it to eat with plenty left to freeze)

Week 5

Wow! I can't believe it's week 5 already. Rumor has it that the tomatoes will be here soon - I can't wait! Hopefully we're going to make some sauce to can this year. We gave it a try last year, but things didn't go quite as we expected. With the lessons we learned from that experience, we think this year will go much better.

Share:
garlic scapes
head lettuce
beets
turnips
radishes
summer squash
zucchini
broccoli
green onions

U-pick:
various beans (the pickings were pretty slim, but I shelled what we picked and it made a nice side dish for our 4th of July meal)
parsley

Bought:
chorizo
